the most frightening day of our life.... we took Amelia to children's hospital hematology/oncology to rule out leukemia!!
what a scare, Feb. 3rd we went in for her 12 month well child exam with her stats coming in at
21 lbs 12 oz 50-75%
30 inches 75%
45 cm. 50%
Eva at One Year
19 lbs
30 1/2 inches
44 3/5 cm head circ.
much closer than i thought..... but amelia is so much more 'chunky'
so then came the lab work lead check, and anemia...
those turned up to be just fine but she did have a white blood cell count that caused some concern so our dr. was going to have us check them again in the morning and set a appointment up at children's hospital... less than an hour later children's hosiptal hematology/oncology department was calling me and they wanted to see amelia right away! so the next moring it was at 9am the 4th we would go to children's hospital
this nurses mind was going places the mother's heart did not want to be!! clinically she was(is) a perfect 10 there was nothing wrong with her and in my heart i truely knew that, thanks be to God it was so!!
she was seen by two doctors at children's we had to put an iv port in had some more blood drawn, they looked at it under the microscope and she came out with a clean bill of health other than her double ear infection... that has been chronic and most likely caused the elevated wbc's... we have to go back to our dr. for some follow ups but here wbc's show no sign of leukemia and hopefully that's our last trip to children's hospital!! I have never experienced such wonderful care from physican's they truely had hearts of gold and we are so greatful for everything they did for us and they expedent care we were given within less than 24hours!!
